But it's a fact that more often than not close family has to decide when to shut down active life support keeping a terminally ill and dying person alive for another few days or not.

I may be right or I may be wrong and for sure hope for the latter.
That said, this is a dirty race by almost any means for the ultimate power in the US and possibly in the world.
