Yes, I voted for Obama. Right now, many people are saying he is the second coming of FDR, but let's see.

I think we need to learn from history or we are doomed to repeat history's failures. In addition, I am a great believer in a regulated, market economy, not laissez-faire. In other words, I'm an economic centrist, maybe a little to the right of center.

One thing I feel confident about Obama is his style of decision making. He's known for listening to all sides of the debate and playing one side against each other to tease out all the issues. Then he takes all of that knowledge into consideration before making a decision. So I have confidence that he will not take us so far left on the economy, that we become like Europe. That would be a big mistake.

I do think that Bush took us too far towards uncontrolled, Darwinistic, laissez-faire, which lead to an extreme amount of corruption and speculation. So we need to get back to center and bring back some rules and regulations. In addition, we need to increase government funding of science and research into new industries such as alternative energy. But we can't move to protectionist policies or policies where the government decides who and what products will be the winners.

Let's see how it shakes out.
