I think the moderates of the Republican Party will try to bring back the Ripon Society whereas the screamin' rightwingers will want for a new party. It might be easier for the extreme rightwingers to form a new party than it has been for the Nader-like leftists.

Obama performs well and is up for reelection. Moderates don't wanna be far right, but they got the money, thinking they've got to reshape the party for the future; the extremists want their own voice and, thus, break from the GOP, forming a completely new party. If Obama does not appeal well to the left, this could then open a door for a Nadar-like candidacy.

That the above could happen I don't think is far-fetched. But, then again, maybe I should save this for another night--lol!
