Seeing the election from the outside, both candidates were practically unknown from the beginning, and both candidates seem to be good people and worthy candidates. The lack of substance in the speeches is understandable: The two most pressing issues right now is finance and energy, and they're both very diffuse and unpredictable. I think McCain made a big mistake by creating a plan for how to handle the financial crisis - claiming that the plan was his, and only his. What USA needs, it not somebody with clear operational objectives, but somebody who is a good decision maker. I think that everybody can conclude, that Obama proved to be the best decision maker in the race, and hopefully he will be a good decision maker as a president, too. Besides that, I'm sure that Obama will be a role model for many, many people outside USA. Now everybody in the world can say: "Maybe one of my grandchildren will become president of the USA". The American dream is now the world's dream. Let's hope that this optimism spreads to the economy.
