In addition to not being steady, its weak many places and strong in some. Ironically, offshore is a good place usually for wind farms. Just have to get the rich folks who live on the coasts to allow them. "Energy storage devices" - easy to write. Adds to cost. Have to balance against using natural gas as backup. In fact, you likely need natural gas as backup anyway. Which is okay I guess now as we've found a lot recently. Plus have plenty of capacity to import natural gas as needed in the future.
