My first reaction to the Rahm Emannuel appointment, if it's true, is that it's good news. I thought Daschle would be better but I suspect he turned it down. Got other things to do and not eager to be an employee.

Emmanuel is the sharpest tool in the kit, as the cliche goes. My impression is that he's been a great consensus builder in the House. I suspect he and Obama will be a great match for building a very disciplined administration.
