There was some very serious misconduct on the part of the federal prosecutors in the Ted Stevens case, so he has reasonable grounds for an appeal. He used that in some very effective last-minute TV ads up here. But I think a big reason for the vote was to try to keep the seat for the Republicans, by causing a special election if he's forced out.
