No, actually that wasn't the "end of story." I think it was Henry Waxman who asked CBO to investigate the allegations. They came back and said that they didn't see any unusual work orders during the transition to fix the alleged vandalism. Then House GOP members came back and said that the fact that they couldn't find anything didn't prove that nothing happened. An eerie foreshadowing of what they later said about WMDs, and an indication of their anti-empirical mindset that also manifested itself in their anti-science rants and positions.

That shows a lot about Bush's character, that it is consistent with my view of him.

but George Bush DEMANDED that the issue be dropped.
