David Brooks and Andrew Sullivan have kept me sane during my conversion away from the republicans. Reagan in 1968 was a hated right wing extemist. Reagan in 1980 was a moderate who got it right with supply side in a world where the problem was less lack of demand than lack of capacity and productivity of the workforce. The problem is that one gens fix is the next gens reactionary. Now we live in a demand side world with a govt run by folks who couldnt shine ronnies shoes. IF there was blogging in 1980, i would have said the same thing about dems who couldnt shine fdrs shoes. By the way because of this special day, i will pardon LBJ from my hatred over vietnam. Without him pushing thru the civil rights acts of 64 and voting rights act of 1965, yesterday wouldnt have been possible. Thank you LBJ.
