you don't understand. The reason "trailer trash" is not a racist remark is because it is a state of mind currently- not a basis of your upbringing or color. The main characteristics of trailer trash are a lack and disregard for education, poor/unreliable work habits (reliance on public assisstance), and excessive children with no means of support... etc Unless somebody is displaying these characteristics it is unlikely they are referred to as trailer trash. For example around this running trail in san jose is a trailer park with a lot of retirees in there. Nobody calls them trailer trash. Its not about living in a trailer, it is about deliberate Low expectations for your life regarding education and work. The best recent movie example I can think of with trailer trash in there was in the movie "million dollar baby"- the family of the boxer Hilary Swank who tried to bring her down to their level of public assistance living because they had no aspirations. The reason people call Palin trailer trash is because (for example) when most children of high level political figures have plans for Harvard or Stanford, her children are busy getting pregnant and the Palin family is actually ENCOURAGING teenage pregnancy forcing a wedding along with the childbirth. Even if you are the most ardent pro lifer, the thing a high quality family would want for their daughter is to give birth and give it up for adoption, and allow the 17 year old daughter to get a decent education, etc. Palins family doesn't think this way. Give birth and live on the Alaska dole= Trailer trash.
