It also might be the beginning of a class realignment. Palin's base is white blue-collar.

The Demos are now the party of the well educated, techo white-collar elite, i.e. the rich and super rich.

when I was a kid, the demos represented the working person. no more.

The demos have spread their base by picking up the Hispanics, along with the blacks, whom they've had for generations.

now it goes to the Republicans to expand their base. Gonna need new leadership. The Bushies, both generations, just wrecked the party.

…Palin was a net plus for the Republican ticket. She turned out the base; she turned out the money; she turned out the attention. Before Palin, McCain couldn't even get coverage. You still don't get it.

If you sincerely think Palin was a plus for the ticket, then the one who doesn’t “get it” is you because nothing could be further from the empirical truth.

It’s OK to have an emotional investment in your candidates, as you obviously do, but elections are decided by hard numbers. In terms of the numbers, Palin was probably worst VP pick by any candidate in the past 40 years and perhaps ever.

People's Radio has been falling all over itself today with gushing segments on what a game changing moment Obama's election is. Their reporting has been replete with remarks of people from Germany, Spain, Italy, Kenya, Nigeria and other spots around the globe.

Expectations this high are sure to be dashed as time goes on.
