Wrong candidate.......bad choice. He was too old, too entrenched, too liberal.

McCain being a RINO was the problem.

You seem to be starting with the assumption that this election could be won, if only there was a real right-winger on the ticket. I disagree because I think the Republican brand remains tarnished. This election seemed like a continuation of what we saw in the 2006 election.

Partly due to money, partly due to GWB, and partly due to events beyond anybody's control (stock market crash), I think this election could not be won by the Republicans. It is surprising that the margin was not larger.

When Republicans controlled Congress an opportunity was lost to make things much better. The Republican Party needs more people like Senator Coburn and fewer people like Senator Stevens. (McCain is closer to being a Coburn than a Stevens)
