They only get to claim 3k . That sure won't help them much.

But since it is all the Gub-mint's fault they should at least allow them to deduct more of their losses.

They certainly tax the full amount of any gains. How is that fair?

That's the not so humorous part of the whole tax exemption business by Obama up to $250,000. was it not.

People at all levels have significant losses in their portfolios whether managed themselves, by financial planners, by the banks, the mutural funds, the hedge funds--------these losses are huge.

Will they ever recoup and be able to pay taxes on gains in these------not likely.

Have a friend newly retired from a lifelong job---------the retirement looked great------until she learned that there has been a loss of 2/3rds of the retirement fund, now her advisor is telling her to purchase a 1 to 2% annuity.
