Oh, and on top of that Bush nearly doubled the national debt.

Not to mention that he turned the prospect of several trillion dollars of surpluses over a period of years into the prospect of several trillion dollars of deficits (never mind for the moment how SS affected the surplus/deficit numbers--if Bush had wanted to, he could have put those prospective surpluses to use by shoring up SS and actually at least beginning to take care of Medicare and our health system instead of giving it to his war projects and to wealthy people so that they could bolster hedge funds and financial institutions who could blow it all on their orge of derivatives, debt and their hallowed "risk management" practices of various stripes).
