Mike,

Speaking of writing:

"Michael Crichton, the best-selling novelist whose books such as Jurassic Park and The Andromeda Strain envisioned unexpected, catastrophic consequences from scientific exploration, has died. He was 66.

Crichton died yesterday in Los Angeles "after a courageous and private battle against cancer,'' according to an announcement on his Web site. It said Crichton's works "challenged our preconceived notions about the world around us.''"

He was one of my favs. Can't believe he's gone. Last time I saw him on Charlie Rose he looked fine and healthy.

What a life he lived. If you care to read about it, read his "Travels". It begins in medical school and chronicles his life for the next twenty years or so. I think that the book may be out of print but you might find it in a used book store.
