Gates Says His Company Is Not Violating Antitrust Agreement nytimes.com

This story has been covered elsewhere, of course. I have to post a little quote though:

As for the fine of $1 million a day that the Justice Department said it would seek in civil contempt charges if the company did not change its policy, Gates said the amount had been overly dramatized, and he predicted that the case would never reach that stage.

"What the judge says to do we'll do," he said. "That's the way things work in this country."

Oh no, the richest man in the world in agreement with the naive and earnest Midwesterner. Bill's my hero, you know.

Cheers, Dan.

For a growth company the size of Netscape, it's not good to have a sequential down-quarter in revenue.

Also, note that PRODUCT revenue grew only 28%. Almost all the rest of the new money came from website revenue or service revenue. That's nice and all, but Netscape is primarily a product-oriented company, and the website stuff isn't supposed to be more than a bonus.

I'm a little surprised NSCP isn't down more today.
