It's risky for a politician, especially one running for office, to "flip flop", particularly after how Rove used that against Kerry.

Iowa has the first caucusus. Obama supported the production and mandates for Ethanol. Even though I am against farm subsidies for any corn used to produce corn-based ethanol, I supported Obama.

Congress has moved a lot since January 6. And, I believe so has Obama. Pelosi has been very clear about her position on this in interviews.

And Congress still is 435 people, 435 votes. A campaign position in the fall of 2007 is not a pledge to force that position through Congress.

Still, the use of ethanol has played a role in reducing demand for oil and has had an effect in breaking the price of oil since July.
