6) Best hope is the incompetence of the Pelosi-Reid-Obama triumvirate. The absence of any significant accomplishment in his life (except for self-promotion) is real. Even if Obama wanted to be centrist, Reid and Pelosi wouldn't let him. This is their hour of victory, they intend to gather in the spoils! We have two causes for hope: 1) Obama's native caution. Audacious without limit in self-promotion, he has actually been very cautious in taking stands that will earn him enemies, 2) Reid and Pelosi's native hubris and stupidity, which will cause them to over-reach.
