"Respect" doesn't mean "I always get to win".

"Respect" meaans, you aren't forced to be something you do want to be, and while you are being yourself, you can still have a job, marry, and do all the things that make a life- and people don't revile you.

"Respect" has never been denied to conservatives. They can do all the things they want to do to make their own lives productive. Unfortunately some conservatives define "respect" as "The voters have to give me my way to inflict my values on others."

Well they won with prop 8 in California, but I would argue that this law is most disrespectful to the gay men and women who work long hours alongside all of us, and who also want to build strong families with the people whom they love. It's too bad that some conservatives have to buy their respect by disrespecting others. I call that not worthy of respect.

I think we can all see who is really disrespected in our society. Gay people certainly are.

My children have excellent values

That's good to hear...

LOL............you don't know my children. They are very comfortable with who they are and with what they believe. And they certainly will intellectually challenge anyone who tries to belittle or diminish those values, so don't spend one more moment being sorry.

Their Father and I are very close to them, and they love discussing almost every issue under the sun with us.

Needless to say.......we love that. ;)

I'm so glad we have so many diverse perspectives in this country and all of these unique individuals expressing themselves in so many ways.

And speaking of gay marriage, and sorry if it's already been discussed to death on this thread......I've been swamped with writing contracts and invoices today.........but the numbers coming out of Cali regarding Prop 8 are interesting. It looks like African Americans made the difference. It certainly validates the perception that Blacks support more traditional cultural issues.
