That's 57 by my count. Including Leiberman's seat. I wouldn't be surprised if he was voted out of the Democratic Caucus. Would the Republican Caucus accept an unreliable turn coat -- an outright traitor to his party?

Smith was a well thought of moderate who came out early against the war. edit: I decided to check out Merkley before posting this and decided from what I read that I like Merkley even more.
