have openly supported McCain and criticized Obama for months on SI.

Ok somehow I took your comments as being from an O supporter. Did not do a history search on them.

We ran a lackluster, uninspiring campaign, and we selected a very weak, divisive candidate in McCain.

The party could have selected a stronger candidate like Romney, but the economy cratered in September and that did McCain in as well as it may have done Romney in. McCain also sent the strange signals out at the time of the bail out talks. I don't know if it was him or the way the press presented his actions at the time. You remember the debate/no debate situation because he had to work on the Bail out?

The Dems were also very successful in tagging the candidate as Bush II and tapping into irrational Bush hatred.

The Republican Party basically said, the Hell with independent and moderate voters, and they answered, to Hell with the Republican Party.

THe platform was not the reason. Bush got elected on it twice, plus everyone knew McCain is a moderate Republican.
