True all the same though.... <g>

(You originally posited one alternate possible reality - that did not ever happen - while I posited another possible alternate reality that was not birthed because [fortunately] the world's politicians got scared enough about the global financial crisis, and the freeze-up in international trade, that they were moved to take action to avoid a 21st. Century Great Depression. Both alternate futures were *possible*, IMO, but NEITHER happened. The game is still afoot however.)

So, my point is that (unless you have access to alternate realities through some sort of Sci-Fi device) it is going to be exceedingly difficult for you to establish any higher level of probability for your particular alternate version of a possible future than is available to mine, Tim.

At least with mine (massively serious global contraction but narrowly averted) I have the benefit of all the contemporary warnings from numerous government and financial experts (such as Bush's Treasury Secretary Paulson, in his briefings to Congress about the extreme gravity and perilousness of the situation, and warnings about the fragility of the global financial system from Bernanke, etc....)
