I firmly expect Obama to make a few of his main initiatives happen in his first year, with more to follow. He doesn't have any big dilemmas like JFK not being able to look like he would leave Vietnam, for re-election purposes.

If he is smart he will prioritize the agenda and work through it in bite-size pieces. The biggest mistake would be to overload Congress and have his program come apart in the confusion.
