Southerners are very party loyal, ergo Bush. Jindal = Repub, even if he is Indian-American. And as a wise old hand down there put it, they'd tried everything else and along came this well-speaking sensible-sounding young man and they figured why not give him a shot at it. Ultimately if these next 4 years go okay, I think they will feel the same about Obama, even if he has a D after his name.

Jindal did a great job with the last hurricane. A shame he wasn't around during Katrina. People took note. He would also be a good FEMA person. A calm and sensible hand at the helm. Is he a liberal Repub or a conservative Dem? smile. Hard to tell. He is the best thing to happen to a southern state in a long time, tho. Riley here in Alabama is pretty good. A decent man and he has worked hard with what he has to work with.

why did LA go with Bush especially since they have Jindal as governor? I know Jindal is republican but he is an Indian american so the racism thing probably wasn't the issue there was it?

I think you mean McCain, not Bush. LA used to swing more DEM when New Orleans was a bigger city. With NO's downsizing, the politics in that state have changed significantly. And it doesn't help that the former Dem governor was blamed for a lot of the problems after Katrina.

I was wrong about Stevens.......if he resigns, Palin appoints the new senator. Meanwhile, there are claims that votes are missing in Alaska.
