The problem with your opinions is that you like to say things like 'obviously' when nothing is obvious. An opinion such as, green is a nice color, doesn't need any support but an opinion such as, 'we have too much government regulation' does.

"or reason to think it isn't true"

It doesn't make it true either. If you don't care what other people think about your opinion then you certainly don't need to defend it. I thought you were attempting to persuade people to your POV.

"When you look at highly intrusive government you see poorer economic performance, and more restrictions on individual freedom."

It depends on what you mean by highly intrusive government. Right now our government is highly intrusive and that appears to be (who knows for sure) preventing us from going into depression. If it were more intrusive before, we might have been spared the housing bubble entirely.

What do you think regulations are for? If you think people and corporations will follow rules the you do not need to have enforceable regulations as everyone will do so voluntarily. That, of course, is nonsense.

If you defraud the IRS then you are not defrauding just the IRS, you are defrauding the government and your neighbor who is paying their taxes. If you are not cleaning your restaurant kitchen then you could indeed be said to be defrauding your customers by presenting your food as clean and edible. I guess you could advertise a dirty kitchen but I doubt that would bring in much business.

"In the broadest sense, a fraud is a deception made for personal gain."
