The governor's plan to deal with a budget shortfall would raise the tax by 1 1/2 cents on the dollar. He also wants a 5-cent-per-drink tax on alcohol and a $12 increase in vehicle registration fees.

This is after he begged us to pass a bond issue last year where he said that the bond issue would be paid off with future lottery receipts. Said if he got that he wouldn't need to raise sales taxes. This will put sales taxes at 9% where I live on top of the highest state income tax rate outside of NY. This is all because California's legislature is just a bunch of whores who can't stop spending money they don't have. Wait, that would be insulting whores. CA is so screwed.
