I'm not even certain of that one redeeming grace item: Coffin saying Lieberman went to Mississippi as a civil rights worker in the fall of 1963. I know that as of the summer of 1963 he had not been actively involved in any of it. So it's possible. But it's unlikely because he clearly wanted to write about civil rights stuff but not do it.

By the time Coffin wrote that op ed piece, he was afflicted with the memory problems of older folk. He might well have conflated some things.

So I'm agnostic on that Mississippi bit. But not terribly interested either.
