Not many know about them and have some drawbacks even though they are one of the most beautiful plants in existence:
1. Some of the parts are poison - like leaves and berries.
2. They can't stand any freezing weather.
3. They take 3-5 years to bloom from seed.
4. They are really expensive to buy, as you might imagine. I suspect it will cost you upwards of $100 for a plant in bloom from a florist.
5. Only now are some other colors becoming available like white, peach, yellow and so forth. However, it will take years to breed them to any quantity.
6. The seeds can be very expensive. I have seen them for as much as $10 EACH!
7. And of course, starting them from seed can be a real challenge.
