It was the only piece I found which appeared (claimed) to have Palin's side of the issue.

It doesn't matter who brings it up, but clearly just being under the same party umbrella won't make her opponents pull any punches.

And as I said to MM, this kind of issue will affect and tarnish a candidate if s/he doesn't rebut it fast - classic recent example, compare the smearing of Kerry with the attempted smearing of Obama. Hiding from such talk, denying that it exists, won't stop it.

<edit> I did notice that it was completely unsourced from both sides - and that the article made quite a point of mentioning that. I haven't noticed that made so prominent before: don't know if it's significant.
