I didn't, and wouldn't say that it would have no impact, only that it wouldn't be so massive of impact as you seemed to imply. People buy things from bankrupt companies all the time (in particular airline tickets, but not just such tickets).

Also the reduced sales, to the extent sales where reduced, would likely be much less of a factor than the greatly reduced debt burden, and escape from costs from old union contracts.

More generally if GM, Ford, and/or Chrysler can't build cars profitably enough to even survive without a government bailout then they shouldn't build cars.
