You really got to think about the larger picture... I would suggest that you do. In the long run having the companies depend on the government for bailouts (remember Chrysler already went through one, and it appears it was no long term cure) would cost more. Also government cost isn't the whole picture. Its only part of the larger picture. If our government rewards losers by taking money away from winners the long run effect is far larger than the effects mentioned in the article you linked to.
