France, the average physician makes the equivalent of $60,000/year. There are 200,000 physicians licensed to practice in France, and the number of medical students is and has been on the decline for years. It simply isn't worth becoming a doctor

You do know that the number of doctors is controlled by a quota system in France; that demographics determine the parameters of that system and that it can fluctuate considerably from one decade to the next. In addition, were you aware the the population is barely growing if not declining in France? You might want to read this analysis:
