All you're doing is declaring that marriage is a right because you want it to be for the sake of your argument. Stating it over and over isn't an argument.

If marriage is a right, why is bigamy a crime? As in fact, it is.

As far as Christianity, what I was taught as a Catholic was that it is up to God to judge, not us. It is not up to Christians to point out the sins of others, only to offer guidance and assistance to those tempted by or fallen into sin. Specifically, Christians are not supposed to support punitive measures towards moral sinners - i.e. cast stones.

Thats all well and good. But it isn't necessary to deny that something is sinful at all in order to be non-judgmental toward people. I suspect you weren't taught as a Catholic that sinful activity doesn't exist.

Also, non-recognition of marriage is not casting stones. Gay sexual activity is legal throughout the US and the opponents of gay marriage aren't actively trying to change that.

What bothers me most about these wedge issues is that the people most affected by them are not the stone casters, but the targets of the stones. Seems very unChristian to me to spend so much time and energy with the end result being so hurtful. Whether two people that you never will know are married and spend their lives together should not be such a big issue for supposedly tolerant Christians.

The handful of people in our society that might involved in gay marriage is not the issue. The issue is that gay marriage is used as a wedge issue to persecute Christians and browbeat Christians and everyone else into accepting homosexuality as both moral and a good and desirable lifestyle.

I supplied you with numerous real life examples of gay marriage being used to force things on Christians that violate their religious values - to teach children inappropriate things, to deny Christians the right to choose not to facilitate something that violates their religious values, to deny tax exemption to religious institutions, to force religious charities our of providing social services, etc etc. You have chosen to ignore those realities. I suspect you agree with the greater agenda and choose to couch your argument dishonestly.

if someone came to their door and tried to convert them to their POV, that might be different...oops, I guess that's called proselytizing...

And thats exactly what they pro gay marriage movement is all about. Forced proselytization in schools, private businesses, churches, etc. Gay activists want the right to instruct children in their views about morality/immorality, to force churches to accept those views, to force businesses to accept them.

The aggressive proselytization is being done by your side of this issue.
