Sounds just like Google. Their internet search advertising revenue funds all kinds of unprofitable research and quixotic business lines. You wonder what exactly drives this behavior? Basically, they just don't know what do to with all that income. Giving it to their shareholders as dividends is apparently out of the question. The odds are pretty low that lightning will strike twice and they will stumble on another idea as profitable as search advertising. If, by chance, you win the lottery, don't waste all your winnings buying more lottery tickets.
