A major move into plug-in hybrids is going to generate significant revenue for those firms which supply equipment for the electrical distribution grid, as the current grid cannot currently transmit that much electricity, even if the power plants have capacity.

Having worked for PG&E during the summers while I was going to college, I recall goods from GE, Westinghouse, and Siemens, although much of the equipment was custom built by PG&E in their own machine shop.
