Exxon let a drunken man dispoil a huge area. And
Exxon did as little as they could get away with. I dealt with them every day. They were a surly ignorant bunch. It was exactly like dealing with bush, cheney, tom delay and karl rove. That was their mentality.

How much damage do you think that oil spill caused? I flew up with a buddy of mine (herring spotter)in his float plane. We landed on a small island in the sound to check the damage. The oil was a foot thick on the island and the cold water caused it to coagulate. Animals, sea otters, birds and others dead and dying everywhere.

Exxon never came close to mitigating the damage they did and after 20 years the courts just now cut their payments to a fraction of the cost of their damage.

The Prince william sound was one of the richest fishing areas in the world and has yet to recover.

Exxon, who made more money last year than any corporation in the history of the US, got away scott free for all practicle purposes.
