It may hard for you to believe but the fuel efficiencies of a large generating plant, complete with transmission losses, are far more efficient than a gasoline engine.

When gasoline prices were at their peak, a fill-up from a wall socket cost half of what an equivalent fill-up at the gas station would have set you back. Even at cratered oil prices the fill-up from the plug is still cheaper.

You could demonstrate your billionaire status by never plugging-in and always using gasoline, but that would make you the rare exception.
