Right again, but I'm not sure any President would veto funds for coal gas research in Ohio, farm subsidies in Kansas, jet fighter assembly in Texas, flood protection in New Orleans and so on... in short order he'd have EVERYONE - red, blue green, conservative, liberal - ticked off at him. Congressman and senators of every stripe favor cutting wasteful spending - but no wasteful spending ever happens in their districts...

At some point we're going to need something like the military base closing commission to control spending, something to give the politicians something to hide behind, if spending is to be controlled.

In other words Bush was too much of a coward to veto even one budget because the MSM would have been mean to him?

So maybe Bush and the Republicans are reckless budget busting spenders, malicious looters of the treasury, or maybe they're pathetic cowards, afraid of the big bad media.

Either way they're not fit to lead...
