In terms of religious belief, I read that we'd have to go down the list of leading nations to the Philippine Islands to find a country that has as higher percentage of people that believe in Creation.

Of the list below, we are dead last in most areas... We pray more, take the Bible literally more. The Irish and Italians go to church more, but are less likely to believe in Creation. Ireland has fewer atheists, but not by much.

IMO, praying is what you do when you have no ideas about how to fix things. As a last step, I suppose it is harmless. But if you are starving, don't pray to God, plant the field. Then pray or hope. IMO.

Just shows the power of the church. Have you ever listened to sermons on Sunday mornings from preachers who inhabit the radio stations that conservative RW talk show hosts control during the week ?

I think it's perpetual fear. Damnation, fire and brimstone, hell and being in it for eternity if one does not follow whatever the preacher tells one to follow.

When I took a philosophy course in graduate work FAITH was one of the underlying tenets of belief in our ways of knowing.

So this is a wonderful way to perpetuate myths.. BELIEF is internal and has to be fed... To withdraw from this what is left ? Empirical evidence only ?
