Having explained my theology, do you see how I couldn't vote any other way....on this one issue? Deep down I can't grasp holding a theology which says judge and dictate to others "for their own good". My personal "theology" is heavily live and let live whenever possible, with great respect for diversity and choice and the inherent worth of what people choose to do in their own lives. If you can persuade them otherwise, great. If you want to dictate to them, you lose me. If you want to use the state to enforce your dictates in their lives, I will do my best to get in your way. The one thing I know for sure is that even in an advanced democracy, some group will want to use state power to put down another group that the first bunch doesn't approve of. And the rest of us have to be vigilant to make sure that each group's rights are respected, or none us have rights worth much at all.
