Re: Congo - Major attraction is cobalt, key for jet engines and petrochemical equipment. The fight for cobalt has been going on since the 1960s. Tin and tantalum are also important, but behind cobalt.

add - diamonds, gold, copper, cobalt, zinc - at least I heard of very big deposits of copper and cobalt - aside Congo is a huge country I think 1/4 to 1/3 of continental US
