Sorry, GZ, but you've got me wrong.

I never once 'defended anonymous gossip'... I simply made the factual observation that it is extremely common to heavily rely upon 'unnamed sources' on 'deep background' in political stories out of Washington, and has been for many years now.

Where 'ya been for the past 30-odd years? <g>

(It is in no way a 'defense' to simply notice how extremely COMMON something is.)
