The fact that Bush was given a free ride for a few years, even positive reviews on some issues, is a HUGE contrast with all the wingers and their pet media outlets who started bashing Obama in earnest in June, when he would clearly be the nominee. He is still a couple of months away from being inaugurated and he is already the devil incarnate.

If they want to stew in their hate for 4-8 years, that's their problem. I keep looking at the electoral map from 2008 and thinking how the red-state world is now shrinking steadily. If Obama governs effectively, the Rovian electoral map will be dead as a doornail.

Quite honestly I was shocked when it leaked that the Reagans were practicing astrology in daily planning, - but I guess it is bad form to take a stab at any former First Lady, no matter how silly they acted. I didn't perceive it as mean as much as flip. He'll have to watch that. People can be thin skinned.

Building schedules around auspicious timings of planets seemed like something that would be happening in Haiti at Papa Doc's house, not the White House. For those who cling to their rationality and agnosticism, this stuff seems very weird. Now that a man who actually reads and cares about what other people of intellect think is heading toward the White House, I rejoice.

While he may need to watch the impatience he has for anti-intellectuals, instead of taking personal opinions, validated ONLY by prayers to a private God and trouncing those with whom he disagrees, I expect that Obama will actually hear them out. Mark my words, you will never see him do anything as flagrant as mock someone on Death Row, or go on national TV, feigning a search around his desk for WMDs.
