Ok forget japan what about the Hyndai?
My dad had a few japanese car dealerships in the 70s and actually went to Japan and he felt they were crackerbox operations compared to the big 3. What he was saying is these were little toy companies, by our standards. Japan was nothing in the 50s, to claim there was BIG MONEY behind subaru then is just silly.

I guess people here just aren't used to watching startups. Tesla doesn't have to fix all these problems right now. They already have mindshare which is hugely important. People forget Google was nothing after the dot com bust, there was a lot of speculation that GOOG wouldn't make it. I see electric cars on the road every day- some are teslas- they look like they are running fine to me.
