We're not reinventing the wheel with any of this. Same issues are present overseas.

Docs tend not to be "fierce" in unionization because it creates massive PR problems. OTOH they do tend to be effective in patient advocacy when they choose to be. Surveys of doctors have shown increasing acceptance of a single payor plan to stem hassle and address problems of the uninsured, although the higher paid specialties tend to diverge from lower paying primary care docs in this.

Why would I imagine this? They aren't government employees by and large, any more than any other government contractor.
