it really gives me my geology fix. I get off on understanding the variations in the coal and other local strata. But I have also spent a fair amount of time in other types of mines. Not too many people out there who would ship 50lbs of iron ore from Australia and Labrador Canada to Los Angeles....but I did. :) And I have coal samples from every mine I have been in...There seems to be some objection to me wanting to display my coal and iron ore collection in the living room. I don't understand why others don't share my enthusiasm...LOL
