He seemed to be coached very carefully about how to answer the question. The AMA is going to take up the question in the next few days. I expect a statement from them in support of mmj.

Support of the AMA may have already been decided. Dated 11/8/08 Resolution 921: Marijuana Reclassification RESOLVED, That our American Medical Association support reclassification of marijuana’s status from a Schedule I controlled substance to a more appropriate schedule (Directive to Take Action); and be it further RESOLVED, That our AMA support efforts to cease criminal prosecution and other enforcement actions against physicians and patients acting in accordance with states’ medical marijuana laws.
