Ann, please don't defend Palin. I can't stand it when we dumb the party down. There were so many conservative, right-minded, smart, and accomplished women that McCain could have picked. For example, Condi Rice would have been my top pick for McCain. And yet, he chose a nobody like Palin. There was no excuse for that.

If Republicans had chosen Romney + Huckabee, they might have won. I like Huckabee the best of all the Republican candidates. However, the combination of the gaffe-a-minute, erratic McCain and a no-name, parochial Palin was a loser from the start.

Defending that pair is a disservice to the Republican Party, because it doesn't acknowledge the mistakes made, so they can be corrected.

BTW, I noticed that Palin is the top pick (64%) of Republicans for the 2012 Presidential election. If that carries through to 2012, the Republicans will be losers again in 2012. Go for it.
