I don't think we can expect trolls to be intellectuals. The act of trolling is about anger, not intellect. So what we see are emotional rants, for the most part, which is what you would expect of trolls.

While pathos may be an interesting part of rhetoric, I think logos makes for better discussions (and ethos, imo, just leads to arguments that tend to rely on the fallacy of authority).
