I think you embarrased yourself with the following statement. You only covered the possibility of shorting a stock and then when it goes down. The point you were responding to was a guess that someone shorted BELOW the current price and had to come up with money to cover. You do understand that if you cover and the stock is above what you shorted it at, you must come up with money somehow? Don't you?

<When you sell a stock short you create a credit in an account. You don't have to sell anything else to be able to buy it back. That is the principle behind selling short in the first place. You hope that the stock goes down and will cost less to buy back than the amount credited by the short sale.>

What you didn't understand was the response to the statement you made:

<To get them to go golfing with investment bankers.>

That was in reponse to the question why do analysts care about what CFOs and CEOs have to say. Your market savvy is frightening!! ;-)

Doo-shay. Actually, I don't understand what you mean. I'm bored so if you want to argue about market principles I would be very interested in embarrassing you.

Other than the remark about the forehead, I was referring to the non-answer that you gave to my question. It is quite possible that you may very well know more about market principles than I do. Why would you get pleasure out of embarrassing someone, though?

As far as the Doo-shay greeteng of yours, if you mean what I think you do, believe me I have heard much worse.
